On a journey to great magical might, explore and control the lands of Eo in this ever-changing turn-based strategy role-playing game. ![]() TL,DR: The griping is somewhat justified but it doesn't have to get in the way of you enjoying the games.SpellForce - a series that expands since more then 20 years! Hopefully this helps to explain things somewhat. None of this has to get in the way of you enjoying them, it's never been a problem for me, anyway. ![]() Including the second of the two non-phenomic expansions, which basically has a "it was all a dream ahem "vision of a possible future" ending".Īll in all it's resulted in something of a mess. (And those two Spellforce 2 expansions are basically considered non-canon by everybody. That's a whole mess all by itself that I don't want to get into, but the short version is that Spellforce 3's story and history badly mismatch that of the earlier games once you get into the details. (And some Spellforce 1 fans didn't like the much smaller changes that Spellforce 2 had made already.)Īnd then on top of that, there's the Lore. Then there's the fact that Spellforce 3 has some noticable gameplay changes from Spellforce 2. I'm not sure it was the fault of the people who made them, it more felt that the problem was that they were made on half a shoestring budget. Soul Harvest was better in that regard, and Fallen God I have no complaints about at all.īut unfortunately this came on the back of the later two expansions to Spellforce 2, (Faith in Destiny and Demons of the Past) being very poorly made by different studios. ![]() And the later half of the basegame Spellforce 3 felt very rushed and unfinished. But I have to acknowledge that the release version of Spellforce 3 basegame, and to a lesser extent, Soul Harvest, was very buggy. I personally like the recent games and the older ones. Sadly there's definitely some truth to this.
